Come Sail Away

I was feeling a bit uninspired today (could have been the copious G&Ts last night at the Soho House but who can say, really?) so I dug into my “cool” file and emerged excited and ready to share. Is there anything more chic than a yacht? Really. Just the word alone conjures up images of Liz and Dick nipping around the Mediterranean or Jackie and Aristotle enjoying the Aegean. It makes me think of fit Europeans on holiday having a cocktails and enjoying dramatic sunsets in sexy places I have only heard of and can’t wait to visit. Sadly, it won’t be on a boat of any sort as I have terrible, unrelenting sea sickness that no amount of Dramamine can seem to conquer. Oh well. A girl can dream and in my dreams, the yachts look like one of these:

And I am her:
Oh, you too? She is Angela Ismailos, documentary filmmaker, daughter of a Greek shipping magnate and owner of the yacht in the top image designed by John Pawson. That’s right, John Pawson, the revered master of luxurious minimalism. Now this is a boat, people:

This is functional chic at its absolute finest. Everything has its place and what a perfectly conceived and executed space it is. I am in love. The second image from the top with the Pucci sail is the Wallyño, the pride and joy of Luca Basesani, president of the uber high-end Wally Yachts. Apparently he ran into Laudomia Pucci in Saint Moritz (naturally) and their conversation led to her designing both his genmaker (big sail, to me) and some of the interiors.
